International ISW assessments and the standing of the work undertaken by UK qualified social workers.
We are very pleased our company’s smart board donation to Mapalana School, Matara District in Sri Lanka, has been received and installed. Since Emily and Arthur visited the school in February 2024, which is where some of their sponsored children attend, they have been in regular contact with teachers and students there.
Community-based assessments involve evaluating risk and parenting competencies within their natural surroundings, as opposed to separating them for assessments in unfamiliar settings.
AGFS has an ongoing charitable relationship with schools and disadvantaged children in Southern Sri Lanka. Below is an exert from a recent article in a local magazine where AGFS’ headquarters are based.
‘Their dedication to protecting children and enhancing their wellbeing has led to Arthur and Emily to charitable endeavours within the UK and beyond. In 2023 the couple established links with an amazing grass roots charity in Southern Sri Lanka, ‘UK Friends of Gale’. The country was devastated by the 2024 tsunami and has suffered political and economic instability for decades. UKGC works with the poorest, most disadvantaged children and families in the area, through investment in their education, housing and infrastructure projects, provision of food and clothing, and much more…..
We are delighted to become a sponsor for a children’s football team at the Hassocks Football Club. We believe the strength and success of local communities are closely dependant on education, leisure and sporting opportunities available to children and young people. ..
I have recently had an opportunity to engage in an SGO assessment process involving a set of grandparents resident in the State of Victoria, Australia. Although I had qualified as a social worker at an Australian University, this was in another State and quite a few years ago. Therefore, my SGO assessment work in the country this October enabled me to gain a good understanding of Victorian Child Protection legislation, applicable family court orders and available social support provisions there.
We at AG Family Support are excited to expand on our specialist, culturally competent ISW services through an introduction of a new member of our ISW Team; a native Hungarian speaking social worker. She joins our Polish speakers and other ISWs with signifiant experience in the culturally sensitive approach to expert child and family assessments within the UK care proceedings.
We would argue that a well-planned and competently delivered video interpretation is the best available alternative to direct language support. Moreover, from our vast experience within the linguistic sector, and as experts in child contact work, we understand the importance of effective and appropriate interpreting protocols supporting the interactions. Within AGFS we have developed, perfected, and delivered best practice approaches to child contact session interpretation, including via video.
Latest research and direct professional experience across numerous local authorities and NHS Trusts in England shows a worrying increase in the number of children who self-harm and who experience a range of significant mental health-related difficulties requiring hospitalisation.
